Hello all, lovely to ‘meet’ you and thanks for the add to this site.
Hopefully you got my note through your door; I was wondering if they’d be any appetite for a WhatsApp group for our road for more informal things like asking for help, borrowing items, recommendation, etc.
We set one up for Shaftesbury road (where I previously lived) and it proved especially useful during lockdown to help those who needed things like shopping dropped off, small odd jobs, etc and it also helped with everyone getting to know each other a bit better.
What do we think? Would it be welcomed or not really of much need?
Thanks all. Take care.

Yep, good plan. Our kids on Warleigh and Ditchling Rise do the same, and it works well for them, for the good times and the bad…

Thanks all. I’ve created the WhatsApp group and will add those that have messaged me. I’ve tried to put a note through everyone’s door, but please do spread the word.
I think you can join the WhatsApp group through this link too:

Great idea. I know many roads which have set up a WhatsApp group and it has proved to be really useful. Thanks for initiating this.

Thanks Louise and Mark.
I’ll set it up then and we can see how we get on with it.
For anyone did didn’t get my note through their door, just message me on 075000 43658 if you’d like to be added to the WhatsApp group.
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam, thanks for the suggestion, I think it’s a great idea and would be a useful addition for the road. Agree that it complements this site and I think the WhatsApp format will encourage smaller questions / requests / offers etc. whilst allowing this site to be used for more formal communication.

I think it’s worth a try. As you say Sam it could be useful for those quick requests that this website isn’t best suited for. I know some neighbours use NextDoor for this type of thing but I’m not sure how many have signed up.

Just as a bit of a ps. I thought it could be a good compliment to this site and very much work in conjunction with it, but with a more informal tone. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks,
Sam
