I am not sure if this happened to anyone else, but just to inform people that a man came to my door this evening begging. He looked to be aged late 40s/early 50s, a bit dirty and unkempt, and he was not wearing a mask although he stood back from the door. His story was: that he lived in flats in Hollingbury and had two four year olds ‘indoors’, that there was ice on the inside of the windows in the flat, and he needed money. He said he had been to other houses but no-one had helped him. He asked me to give him £4, which when I did not look willing he said he would pay me back. I said no anyway and he left. I was not convinced by his story but was not sure if he was just begging or a potential burglar.

He came to us as well last night and I did give him £10. He then started to say that things were going to get worse and that something terrible would be happening on the 27th – at that point I made an excuse and closed the door but we did find the side gate open this morning so wondered if he had been round the back of the house.

He came to ours last night. Connor answered the door and he asked for £6.20. Seemed quite erratic.

We had him too… without a mask, and singing! Fortunately Peter answered the door and just said ‘no thank you”. I didn’t see him but it sounds like someone who’s been round before with similarly tragic stories – electricity going to be cut off, freezer full of food, wife and kids will leave him if he doesn’t get it sorted…I gave him £10 that time as I felt sorry for him, he said he’d pay it back that time too… and guess what!!
