The first meeting of the group hoping to enable Florence Road to become more environmentally friendly met today to share ideas. 8 residents attended.
Katy O’Neill, the group’s convenor, reported on the WhatsApp group:
We discussed how we could share resources (tools, gardening equipment etc.), organise community events, research green energy and create recycling points on the street for items which aren’t accepted in our recycling bins. It was a really nice opportunity to meet neighbours for the first time too. We will keep you posted on developments and we will meet again in a couple of months. I will share the date of the next meeting once it is agreed. The more the merrier.
The initial idea for the role of this website is to show information that has been shared on the WhatsApp group and which others may wish to refer to again later. For example, where someone is willing to lend or share something, or someone is organising a special event, or when someone has researched and found out specific information about, say, installing solar panels or heat source pumps.
This kind of information on the website will only be viewable by residents who have joined the website and have a username and password.
General news items, such as this one, will be viewable by anyone visiting the website.
